Chester grosvenor afternoon tea

On a couple of occasions, we have been in for cocktails. When visiting the centre of Chester, you will always pass by the Chester Grosvenor. We usually stay in a very nice, just out of town hotel. My wife and I visit Chester a couple of times per year. The service really let it down and the food although nice was just not good enough for the £95 bill. All in all I think we were ripped off, I know you are paying more because it is a 5* hotel but on that basis it should be a 5* experience from start to finish but it wasn't.

When we stood up to leave noticed loads of crumbs under the chair opposite from previous guests. The toilets were so old that the flush wouldnt work and was coming away from the wall. We asked for water twice before it came and then when we asked for more it never came. Then we received our afternoon tea and I have never been anywhere where you dont get one of each type of cake each, we had to share them so had to cut up little delicacies which wasn't that easy.

Nowhere to put coats so they were just on the floor. Firstly we were left waiting to be seated then shown to a table with a sofa. It was so underwhelming and overpriced I would not go again. I have lived in Chester all my life but never been in here but it was my husbands birthday so thought we could have afternoon tea for a treat.
